What To See

Mountainous Adjara

So, you’ve picked up your car in Batumi, what’s the first thing you should do? Discover the mountainous landscape of Adjara! The region is simply stunning, and is one of the few places on earth where you can lay on the beach in the sun, while staring up at a mountain that’s covered in snow. Some areas you may want to consider visiting include the Acharistskali water reservoir and the Makhuntseti waterfall. We cannot express enough how beautiful this region is, get out there and explore it!

What To Do

Ride the Batumi Cable Car

On first approach to Batumi, you’ll undoubtedly notice the cable car that ascends from the city centre up into the mountains. This trip is a must do! With its entrance on Gobebashvili street, the ride costs 15 lari and takes you to a mountain top on the outskirts of the city. It offers panoramic views across Batumi and the region in general.

What To Eat

Adjaruli Khachapuri

No trip to Batumi would be complete without tasting the delicious local Khachapuri. While every region has its own version of the cheesy bread, Adjara probably takes the lead when it comes to both taste and decadence. Often referred to as ‘Cheese Boats’, Adjaruli khachapuri consists of dough stretched out from the middle to leave room for a boat-shaped dip, in which oodles of cheese, egg and butter are poured. Locals will all tell you a different place for where they serve the best, but some of our favourites include:

Acharuli Khachapuri House: 39, 26 May Street

Porto Franco: 40 Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street

All within a short driving distance with your Batumi rental car.

What To Drink

Great Cocktails

After arriving in the country, it’ll soon become abundantly clear that the wine here is pretty incredible. Did you know? Georgia is the birthplace of wine!

But there are also other tipples you may want to consider in this bustling seaside metropolis. Sunset Batumi, located on the Ardagani lake, offers some particularly delicious cocktails, alongside their extensive food menu. Better still, they offer nightly live Georgian music and dancing .
